Dictionaries from MBS
MBS is glad to present to your attention
some dictionaries and glossaries that we have compiled for some years of cooperation
with our permanent clients.
Here we tried to offer Russian equivalents to some new English terms used in the telecommunications industry that are not covered by other publications. The Mobile Communications Dictionary is based on the materials of Siemens and Cisco.
You can download and print out the materials or otherwise dispose of them. We will be glad if you share these materials with your colleagues and friends. However, we kindly ask you not to delete information about MBS. We hope that in the future you or any of your friends will need to contact us.

The Dictionary
contains about 2,300 abbreviations.
Each abbreviation is followed by its
full description in English (Capitalized
letters show how the abbreviation is
formed) and the Russian equivalent.

The dictionary
is based on the definitions contained
in Annexes to ICCTT and for convenience
of use presented in two versions.
Each dictionary
contains about 4,800 words and expressions.
The volume of each file is about 0.65
Mb. The files are in the .pdf format.

Glossary
of Terms and Abbreviations Used in the
Field of GSM Mobile Communications
(user dictionary for ABBY Lingvo)
The Dictionary is based on materials provided by Siemens. In addition to basic terms related to GSM network HW and SW components, network planning and building, etc. some specific and specialized cellular communications aspects, such as Prepaid Services (PPS), GPRS UMTS are presented. Items consist of abbreviations followed by their full description and Russian translation. The dictionary also offers Russian equivalents of some wordings and phrases in English GSM documents that are difficult to translate. The current edition of the Dictionary contains about 4000 items (word combinations and abbreviations) with multiple definitions.

To run the user dictionary in ABBY Lingvo |

Choose Languages
& Dictionaries... on
the Tools
menu.
The Languages
& Dictionaries... dialog
will open.
Click
in this dialog or press CTRL+O
to bring up the Dictionary
Installation dialog
box.
In the Files
of type
drop-down list select
the required file type.
Select the dictionary
or dictionaries you wish
to install and click Open.

You can also drag and drop your dictionary file from Windows Explorer onto the Bookshelf. |
Note:
Lingvo 8.0 uses Unicode fonts to display text on its cards. Before you can attach user dictionaries created in ABBYY Lingvo 5.0/6.0/6.5 and in ABBYY Lingvo 7.0 English Russian Edition, you have to convert them into the new multilingual format. If you try to attach an unconverted dictionary, Lingvo will prompt you to convert them. If you agree and click Yes, Lingvo will launch the DSL Compiler.
The DSL Compiler will convert your old file into the new format without altering its contents.

For
your Information: the
said user dictionary consists of three
files: Lingvo GSM E.adx, Lingvo GSM
E.ann and Lingvo GSM E.lud. The files
are compressed into the 0.3 Mb GSM-GPRS
Dictionary.zip file. After the zip file
is downloaded you may unzip it and put
the dictionary to your ABBY Lingvo.

dictionary is a result of research by
Tatyana S. Ivaschenko. It is based on
original elction-related materials.
The dictionary is designed for election
law experts, linguistic college students
and all those who are interested in
linguistic aspects of electoral process.
